Dip Pens...
I could go on forever about dip pens, & nibs, but if you want to create a line drawing with feeling and variance…use a “Dip Pen” every time !

Not all sharpeners are created equal !
I’ve got more than a few sharpeners, you would think all sharpeners are made equal…they are not. This is one of my favourites at the mo !

You can do so much with different textures and colours and granulation can look so good…so I have a small range to do just that !

Pigments are just amazing...
When you open a packet of pigment, the colour is so intense its amazing, and its so fine. So I wear respirator and googles…think ‘Breaking Bad’, but with colour !

If you haven’t tried this go to YouTube and there’s a wealth of people who show you how. I buy my pigments from “Cornelissen” they are the best!

My Book of Colours
Another sketchbook just dedicated to colours. Ones I’ve mixed, ones I’ve bought, and ones I’ve created.

Making Gum Arabic Binder
These are the raw crystals, harvested from the Acacia tree in Sudan. These are Kordofan crystals.

Add distilled water.....
So first you add distilled water, this breaks the crystals down, takes about 3 days. Aren't the colours amazing !

Filter it after 3 days....
Add... Honey (Welsh of course), Glycerine, Ox Gall, Clove Oil and hey presto, you’ve made a binder!

Keep it in a cool and dark place
The finished brew...err binder ! Should last me a while !
